The 26th Chumphon Marine Festival is set to take place from 25 to 29 March, 2016 to promote marine tourism of the province and its readiness to be a part of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
Under the theme “The Colour of Chumphon Marine, the Hidden Gem of ASEAN”, highlights of this year include the presentation and 150-metre-long illumination of sand drawing art and sand sculptures presenting the symbolic icons from ten ASEAN countries and Chumphon province.
Activities during this year’s event will focus on its readiness to enter AEC, eco-tourism activities, photo exhibition, underwater world exhibition, Thai kite and international kite festival, seafood festival, land and water sports competitions along with several fun-filled activities.
There are also activities to strengthen awareness on environmental preservation such as beach cleanup, diving to collect garbage under the sea, releasing of rare marine animals and activities to promote tourism of Chumphon.
With its beautiful and peaceful beaches and abundant marine natural resources, Chumphon is considered one of the best diving spot in Thailand. The province is also rich in history and still retains its unique, charming way of life of the local people, making it an interesting destination for all visitors.
