The annual Phichit Boat Race takes place September 5-6 on the Nan River in front of Wat Tha Luang, a royal temple. Up to 40 traditional long boats will join this year's competition which is devided into 4 categories determined on the number of oarsmen: long-boat races manned by 41-55 paddlers, those comprising 31-40 paddlers, and races featuring fewer than 30 paddlers, as well as long-boat races in the "Kor Song" category. Also, the festival will boast free concerts, Red Cross donation stalls and an OTOP fair where visitors will have an opportunity to purchase a great variety of top-quality local products ranging from handicrafts to organically-grown fruits and vegetables.
