Paknam Web: Thailand Festivals 2010

The colourful festivals of Songkran and Loy Krathong are well-known to tourists from all around the world. However, Thailand has many more unique festivals that are not always found in the guidebooks but can be just as good. Some of the Thai festivals on this website are not even well-known among Thai people. If you are planning a holiday in the Kingdom of Thailand, then make sure that you check out our Festival Diary Dates.

The annual Phichit Boat Race takes place September 5-6 on the Nan River in front of Wat Tha Luang, a royal temple.

Up to 40 traditional long boats will join this year's competition which is devided into 4 categories determined on the number of oarsmen: long-boat races manned by 41-55 paddlers, those comprising 31-40 paddlers, and races featuring fewer than 30 paddlers, as well as long-boat races in the "Kor Song" category.

Also, the festival will boast free concerts, Red Cross donation stalls and an OTOP fair where visitors will have an opportunity to purchase a great variety of top-quality local products ranging from handicrafts to organically-grown fruits and vegetables.
