The colourful festivals of Songkran and Loy Krathong are well-known to tourists. However, Thailand has many more unique festivals that are not always found in guide books. Please contact us with news about your event.

Thai Red Cross Fair: Until 7th April 2011

In order to mark the 84th Anniversary Birthday of His Majesty the King, Patron of the Thai Red Cross Society. The Thai Red Cross Society will organize the Annual Red Cross Fair 2011 which will be held at Amporn Garden (Suan Amporn), the Royal Mounting Statue Plaza, Sanam Saew Pa, Sri-Ayudhaya Road and Rachadumneon-nok Road during March 30 and April 7. The Thai Red Cross Society has organized this year’s fair under the slogan of "84 Pansa Maharaj Tam Roi Phra Bhad Ka Chad Chuay Thai Tawai Tai Ong Rachan", (84 Pansa Maharaj, Red Cross follows in HM’s footsteps, and work for Thais).

For this year’s activities, we have more than 200 booths from both government and private organizations, to display their goods and/or activities performed and entertain the fair-goers. Apart from inspecting consumable goods on sale, the fair-goers can try their luck by picking lucky stars, and/or buying the Red Cross raffle. There are also products from royal projects: from Chitlada Villa, from HM the Queen’s shop; from Phra Dabot Foundation, from Silpacheep 904 shop, for example. This year, we welcome the newcomer - the booth of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. There is an exhibition to inform the public of the Thai Red Cross Society’s various activities. The 75 Provincial Red Cross Chapters bring along their renowned local products to tempt the fair-goers.

At the fair, there are contests for healthy babies and healthy senior citizens. Decoration booth at the fair are also competing under the theme of "84 Pansa Maharaj, Red Cross follows in HM’s footsteps and work for Thais". There are 4 categories of the contents: Economy – follow the sufficiency economy principle; Natural Resources and Environment – support local technology/knowhow; Education and learning – strengthen our communities; and Public Health – enhance the quality of life.

An exhibition by the Thai Red Cross Society is displayed to provide the public with information on medical, nursing and public health matters. In addition to the exhibition, consultations and medical services will be provided at the fair by the two medical teams from the Thai Red Cross hospitals: Chulalongkorn and Queen Sawangwattana at Sri-Racha. Services include blood group checking, blood pressure checking, and general health and medical consultations. Common household medicine, made in accordant with Chulalongkorn Hospital’s original recipe, is also on sale at the fair. At the fair, the Thai Red Cross Society’s staff will be on hand to receive the pledge for eye-, organ-, skin-, and body- donations. Blood donations can be made at the fair throughout the whole nine days of the fair.

The Thai Red Cross Society would like to invite the public to come and enjoy our annual Red Cross Fair for 2010 at Suan Amporn from March 30 to April 7. On weekdays, the hours are 14.00 – 23.00 hrs. and on weekend 10.00 – 23.00 hrs. Tickets to enter the fair are 20 baht; proceeds to go to the Thai Red Cross Society.
