The former Thai capital city of Sukhothai will present a series of the mini-light and sound presentation with one show per month scheduled between February and September, this year. The show aims to showcase the glorious history and culture of this ancient Thai capital as the source of national heritage – the Thai alphabet, the magical Loy Krathong celebration, firm foundation of Buddhism, fine Teen Chok cloth, ancient chinaware and King Ramkhamhaeng the Great, who reigned over Sukhothai’s golden age during the 13th century.

Organised by TAT for the first time in 2008, the mini-light and sound performance previews the highlights of the much grander light and sound presentation scheduled during Sukhothai’s annual Loi Krathong and Candle Festival on the full moon of the 12th Lunar month.

The mini Light and Sound Show takes place at Wat Sasri inside the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admission to the show is free. The mini light and sound show, classical performances, fireworks display and a Loi Krathong scene start from 7 p.m. and lasts about 1.5 hours.
