The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phitsanulok Office is inviting local and international tourists to witness the annual traditional long boat races 2015 in Phichit and Phitsanulok, to be held from 5-6 September and 19-20 September, respectively.
The Phichit Traditional Long Boat Races 2015 will take place on Non River, in front of Wat Tha Luang in Mueang Phichit district while the Phitsanulok Traditional Long Boat Races will also be held Nan River, but at the part in front of Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan in Mueang Phitsanulok district.
The Phichit Traditional Long Boat Races 2015 was the first type of boat races held in Thailand as well as one of the oldest. It is regarded as the one of the grandest and most spectacular boat races in the country. To live to the event’s reputation, each year there will be a simulation of the Royal Barge Procession, carrying the Royal Trophy for the winning teams of all three long boat types.
The Phitsanulok Traditional Long Boat Races 2015 will feature races of nine long boat types, including large long boat, traditional long boat, small long boat, and mini boat.
At both events, there are many teams taking parts. Tourists and visitors can enjoy viewing the races of various traditional long boats as well as the cheer squads of the boat teams.
