The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in cooperation with Rayong Province is jointly organising the 1st Rayong Kite Festival from 11-12 March, 2016 at Saengchan Beach, or Moon Beach, in Noen Phra Sub-distrcit.
The event is being held with an objective of encouraging the education and conservation of Thailand’s cultural heritage with a local and international viewpoint in mind. Purposely scheduled during the semester breaks for Thai universities and school students, the event is also expected to attract more domestic tourism to Rayong.
The main attraction will be a swathe of colourful kites flying over Moon beach in various shapes and designs. For a two-day period, attendees will get to watch kite shows performed by enthusiasts and competition teams, as well as take a stroll along the beach to one of the many booths and learn how to make a kite and the history of kites in Thailand.
Scheduled shows will include kites portraying characters, enacting scripted scenes and moving to music. Collision Kites that will have kite-handlers competing for dominance in the sky. And talent shows that showcase skillful air-maneuvers and juggling multiple kites at one time.
