Suphan Buri is one of Thailand’s leading provinces in conserving and promoting the traditions of the Khao Phansa festival to mark the start of the Buddhist rain retreat. This year, the official opening ceremony will take place on the Buddhist Lent Day on 20 July 2016 from 8 a.m. with a spectacular parade of exquisitely-carved candles accompanied by traditional performances of local ethnic groups. There are also presentations and exhibitions of cultural heritages and tourist attractions from all 10 districts of Suphanburi.
Highlights also include traditional cultural performances, the carved-candles competition, candle parades and floats competition, the displays of beautifully-carved candle and exquisitely-decorated floral floats as well as impressive performing arts from Suphan Buri College of Dramatic Arts.
